Rocky N
“Rocky” is a 24-year old Standardbred gelding. Originally bred in New Zealand, Rocky came to the U.S. as a harness racer. After retiring from racing, Rocky was retrained as a pleasure horse. He enjoys doing low level dressage and trail riding. Rocky loves trading kisses for some extra attention!

Bella Fay
“Fay” is a teenaged grade pony mare. From her first career as a children’s pony, to her second as a lesson horse, to her third as an all-around pony, Fay puts her heart and soul into anything that is asked of her. She is just as happy to run a barrel pattern as she is to go out cross country schooling, but her favorite is working her way up the levels in dressage.

Chester Copperpot
“Chester” is a 5-year old Appaloosa cross gelding. Chester came from a hoarding situation as a feral yearling. After many months spent learning how to safely interact with people and getting physically healthy, Chester is now a happy, healthy riding horse. He has been slowly started under saddle and has recently been introduced to jumping. He hasn’t decided what he wants to do for his primary job yet, but seems to enjoy trying everything at least once.

Uptown Girl
“Callie” is a 15-year old Appaloosa mare. This girl is unfazed by anything- she loves trail riding and will happily do obstacles all day. While she can be headstrong, Callie does a great job teaching new riders how to use their aids correctly. Once she’s decided you know what you’re doing, she’ll happily do whatever you ask!

Fuego Del Sol
“Adele” is an 11-year old Thoroughbred mare. After her time on the track came to an end, Adele was used as a broodmare, producing a lovely son. She has been extensively trail ridden, and is now learning the ropes of dressage and jumping.

Maximus
“Max” is a 24-year old Percheron/Morgan cross. Max spent his early years as an Amish workhorse. After an injury forced him into an early retirement, he was rehabbed and turned into a trail horse. Max now enjoys teaching young riders the basics.

Hat's Off To Thunder
“Thunder” is a mid-20s Paint mare. She has done a little bit of everything in her younger years as a 4H horse. She enjoys teaching the smallest riders the basics and getting all the love at summer camps.

Hot Shot's Yellow Dog
“Brandi” is a 17 year old Quarter Horse mare has spent the last few years at SMS. She has been a wonderful, steady addition to the lesson crew. With her Westen training and good disposition, Brandi is often many riders first horse. She enjoys Western dressage, but will also happily tackle a small jump course!

Pocket Sized For Your Convenience
“Mushu” is an 8 year old TWH cross. While he is a gaited pony, Mushu will happily trot along if asked to. He has been learning the ropes of Western Dressage and is figuring out ground poles. He really shines on trail rides and obstacles, as he is a brave little pony.

Sweet Annie
“Annie”, a Welsh pony mare, joined us heavily pregnant. She spent her first few months doing lots of ground lessons and getting spoiled, as every mother-to-be should. Now that Finnegan has arrived, Annie has been working with some of our intermediate riders, learning the ropes of dressage and jumping. As a former cart pony, we hope to get Annie driving again soon, in addition to continuing to take her to horse shows.

Finnegan's Wake
“Finn” is an almost 2 year old gelding. This little Welsh/Friesian cross is already the cutest mover with the best personality. He will be continuing his ground training this summer, before eventually being started under saddle. The future is bright for this little guy!

Eternal Strawbaby
“Cinnamon” is a lovely Quarter Horse mare who recently joined the SMS lesson crew. She belongs to assistant trainer Mrs. Alyssa, and we are so grateful that we can share her! Cinnamon rides both English and Western, and enjoys doing a little bit of everything- western dressage, jumping, ground poles, and obstacle work.

“Ranger” was a teenaged paint pony gelding. He spent his early years as a western pleasure pony, and quickly decided that he wasn’t a lesson horse- he was Ms. Caitlin’s horse. There was nothing Ranger wouldn’t try- dressage, jumping, obstacle courses. He truly was a once in a lifetime horse.
